Costume re-alignments

From this day forward, the Snow Commando is moving to Blizzard Force, and the Heavy Weapons Trooper (HWT) is moving to the FISD. The Spec Ops Det has picked up the Force Unleashed Felucian Stormtrooper Commander. It was a unanimous decision between all three Detachment Leaders to swap these costumes and we’re happy that we could all work together to make this happen for the 501st Legion.

2009 Spec Ops Elections

Trooper Kevin Christley remains the 501st Spec Os Detachment Leader this year, running unopposed in the 2009 Legion election process.

The detachment still needs to fill the other Detachment positions, such as Det XO,  PRO, Merchandising Officer, and Captain of the Guard.  All 501st Legion Det members are welcome to nominate in our forums and the membership will vote to fill these critical positions.

All in all, it should be another great year for the Spec Ops Det!

501st Legion Elections Info

On December 20th a mass email will be sent to the membership instructing them that the elections will commence on January 1st with open nominations for all elected offices. A link to the specific forums for each unit will also be given and the member will be instructed to check to make sure their access is correct and functional. All active members will have access to the Legion election forums. All active members will have access to their respective assigned unit (Garrison or Outpost). All members assigned to a squad will be given access to their respective squad forum. Members of Detachments, if clearly defined by the upcoming elections, will be given access to all Detachments they are deemed (via the census) to be an active participant in. On January 1st a second mass email will be sent out (with any previous corrections made) announcing nominations are being accepted for each office. These nominations will be submitted via an on-line form similar to our feedback and event request forms. These submissions currently go to the entire Legion Command staff. This will not apply to Legion elections. Those nominations will continue to be made openly on the Legion forums. For all non-Legion nominations, the nominator will not be listed, just the nominee. This is to avoid any retribution against anyone or favoritism towards anyone for their nomination. The COG will be responsible for posting the names of all non-Legion nominees in their respective threads. On January 14th another mass email will go out advising that the nomination period is closed. All respective nomination threads will be locked at that point. Q&A threads should be created at that time for each nominee on the local forums. If a unit wanted to hold their Q&A on the Legion forum in their private election forum, I presume that would be okay as well. Legion offices will have their Q&A threads on the Legion forums as usual. Any unit receiving no nominations will be contacted and the current elected officers advised to retain their posts for another year. For these units there will be no further activity in their dedicated elections forum and their particular forum will be closed and locked. On February 1st a mass email will be sent out stating that the voting period has begun. The previously included links will once again be given to direct each member to their respective polling threads. A final reminder email will be sent on February 13th explaining that all polls will close at midnight the evening of 14th.

3rd Patch Run in Progress

The 501st Special Operations Detachment (TX’s) has re-ordered 200 of our classic v1 embroidered iron-on shield patches just in time for CIV. They’re blood red & white embroidered thread on thick black fabric and can be either ironed-on or sewn onto any fabric. Cost is $4 (USD) each shipped anywhere worldwide.

This distinctive and relatively rare 501st Legion-approved patch was collectively designed by the Detachment members and trooper/artist Chuck Flynn back in 2005. It depicts a bleached white Krayt Dragon skeleton on top of a blood red Imperial Cog with the words Swift, Silent, Relentless in Aurabesh. No need to update this classic v1 design at all – after all, why mess with a very cool design?

Here’s a pic above the official 501st patch (v1) and our iron-on transfer for a size reference:

See our 501st-Only forum for order details. Sorry, these are available for sale to 501st-Only per the official Legion rules.
